Ask and ye shall receive. We're overjoyed to announce the date of the next Homo/Sonic: Saturday April 4. No band this time: just a few hours of fun danceable music featuring queer artists. Feel free to email us requests, or leave them in the comments.

Two minor miracles happened in the District on Saturday: First, the coinciding bookings of Homo/Sonic and MixTaint provided DC's alterna-crowd the ability to party hop. Secondly, a band actually roused the Black Cat's audience to dance. My Dear Disco, the queer-fronted 7 piece-band that drove all the way from Ann Arbor to play at Homo/Sonic, moved their fans to never-before-seen heights of body motion with their mixture of covers (Girls Just Wanna Have Fun) and original songs. They were great.
The following dance party was pretty fun too. Michael and I began to DJ shortly after 11:30 and went strong until after 2. Thanks again to everyone for coming out. We're still waiting to find out when our next Homo/Sonic will be. In the meantime, check out our playlist below the fold and keep your dancing shoes in good condition. Though it seems like we're still scrubbing lipstick off the shot glasses of our last Homo/Sonic dance party , we are here to remind you that our next one is coming up this Saturday, Feb. 21st at the mainstage of the Black Cat.
Even more excitingly, we have booked a band to play the early portion. They are called My Dear Disco, they hail from Ann Arbor and their lead singer is a super cute queer girl. MDD has the ability to whip crowds into a teeming, foaming frenzy so we hope you will come out to see them.
Just to be sure, we included a My Dear Disco mixtape below the fold.

Keep this Saturday open — The New Gay is holding it's next Homo/Sonic dance party at the Black Cat Mainstage. The last one we did was a lot of fun and we hope you can come join us. As usual, the party is co-ed, trans-inclusive, straight friendly and all-ages. Say that three times fast! We do hope you can come out and join us. Dancing your ass off and meeting cool people are just happy side effects.
As usual, the party will be DJd by myself and Michael. Requests are always welcome.

After the fun we had at last Saturday's Homo/Sonic dance party, we are pleased to announce that the good folks at the Black Cat have just informed us we'll be getting another chance on January 31st. What's that you say? Two Homo/Sonics in one month? Our minds are blown too, but we promise we'll do our best to make sure the coming one is even better. Hope to see you all there.

This reposted as a reminder to come out to Hom/Sonic this Saturday.
There are two kinds of people in this world: those that make arbitrary, absolute statements and those that don't. Also, people who love Thanksgiving and people who think a anesthesia-free circumcision would be less traumatic. I'm in the second camp. That is why I'm so excited that TNG's next Homo/Sonic dance party is taking place Saturday, Nov. 29th, on the Black Cat mainstage. Our last two Homo/Sonics were a lot of fun and we're happy to do it again in a way that might relieve some holiday stress.
Plus, we'll be joined this time by the band Little Dragon. You might know their frontwoman Yukimi Nagano as Jose Gonzalez' girflriend, but their upbeat trip-hop could not be more different from his campfire music.
It is especially important to note that this party is taking place on the Black Cat's MAINSTAGE. That means we'll have much more room than last time and no one will have to wait in line to get in.

Homo/Sonic is The New Gay's regular dance party. Taking place upstairs at the Black Cat, it is an all-ages, co-ed, trans-inclusive, straight-friendly, handicap-accessible dance party. We play a mix of indie, 80s, disco and hip-hop, focusing especially on the music of queer artists. It's a lot of fun. Homo/Sonic is usually DJd by TNG founders Zack and Michael, but we occasionally have guests. Cover is $10 and doors open at 9:30. We hope to see you there.
