Dr. Nathaniel Frank, a senior research fellow at the Palm Center at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and history professor on the adjunct faculty at New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study, will be at Lambda Rising on March 16th to discuss his new book, Unfriendly Fire: How the Gay Ban Undermines the Military and Weakens America.
Based on hundreds of exclusive interviews, Unfriendly Fire reveals behind-the-scenes discussions by the top players responsible for the current policy, and shows how a campaign of misinformation by military officials and the religious right conspired to steamroll the gay ban into place. It also answers pressing questions people are now asking about what lies ahead: How is the current policy really working? How do gay and straight troops currently get along? What happened when other nations lifted their gay bans? What will happen if the U.S. follows suit? And more.

I saw the Daily Show also - I'd like to know more about the connection he mentioned between the LACK of Arabic translators and that intercepted message about "tomorrow" that was received on 9/10 but not translated until AFTER 9/12.
Yes, a big general leap, but there IS some small thread of connection between firing gay Arabic experts (DADT) and being unprepared for 9/11. Perhaps bigger.
