Weekend Preview: Holiday Warm-up / Chill-out

Welcome back to TNG’s Weekend Preview, in which we tell you what you’ll be up to in the next few days! It’s the last weekend before the holidays are truly underway, and we’ve got events to get you pumped, calm you down, and even help you finish your last minute shopping. Check it all out below.
Tonight:
• Tired of all that work and thought you’ve been putting into your outfits for all of those holiday parties? Then be sure to make an appearance at our “Tired of Being Sexy” Party tonight – the schlubbier the better. You could even win tickets to this weekend’s CSS concert at the 9:30 Club! Details: Thursday, December 18, Solly's, 1942 11th St. NW, free, 8 p.m.-12 a.m., 21+.
• The Baltimore Round Robin tour, meant to promote Baltimore-based musicians, is finally making a stop in its home city this weekend. Tonight is “Eyes Night” at Sonar. Featured artists include Beach House, Jana Hunter, Nautical Almanac and Ed Schrader, amongst others. Details: Sonar, 407 E. Saratoga St., Baltimore, 8pm, $8, All Ages.
Friday:
• If you couldn’t get enough of the Baltimore Round Robin, be sure to check out night two, or “Feet Night.” Featured acts include Dan Deacon, Video Hippos, Blood Baby and Nuclear Power Plants, amongst others. Details: Sonar, 407 E. Saratoga St., Baltimore, 8pm, $8, All Ages.
Saturday:
• Dance it out at MIXTAPE, the alternative dance party for queer guys and gals and their pals. DJs Matt Bailer and Shea Van Horn will be spining an eclectic mix of electro, pop, new wave, disco, rock, and everything in between at Dahlak, an Eritrean restaurant in lower Adams Morgan. Details: Dahlak, 1771 U Street NW (Corner of 18th and U Streets NW), 10:00 pm to 2:30 am, Free, 21+.
• Check out queer Brazilian band CSS at the 9:30 Club – maybe even with the free tickets you won at our “Tired of Being Sexy” Party! Check out a mix of some of their work, if you need further enticement. Details: 9:30 Club, 815 V St. N.W., 7:00pm, $20.
Sunday:
• Come out and support three lesbian musicians – two of whom are DC-based – when Pamela Means and Thomasina and the Jam take over Phase 1. Details: Phase 1, 585 8th St SE, 8:00PM, $5 cover, 21+ only.
• Get some last minute holiday shopping taken care of and support local queer crafters at the Rock ‘n’ Shop: A Rock ‘n’ Roll Garage Sale at the Black Cat. Details: The Black Cat, 1811 14th St NW, 8:00pm, Free, All Ages.
