Capitol Pride Symphonic Band presents "Songs for Life"
TNG reader and member of DC's Different Drummers (DCDD), Adam, wanted to share the following information about a World AIDS Day benefit concert with our readers.
This coming December 1, 2008, in honor of World AIDS Day, DCDD will further their mission of giving back to the community by performing the inaugural Songs for Life concert. The concert will be held at 8:00 pm Monday December 1st at the Harman Center for the Arts, 610 F Street, NW (Gallery Place Metro). Tickets must be purchased directly from the Harman Center Box Office. With this important fund raising event, they hope to raise the city’s profile as a participant—if not a leader—in global efforts to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, and to procure much-needed funds for three outstanding local organizations to continue their work: Whitman-Walker Clinic, Us Helping Us, and Metro TeenAIDS. As members of the Washington, DC, community, it is impossible to ignore the staggering toll HIV/AIDS has wrought on the city. With this concert they strive to increase awareness about the continuing impact of HIV/AIDS on the District and in the LGBTQ community by honoring these organizations and their excellent work.
