Tonight mothertongue presents its annual Anti-Valentine's Day Slam at the Black Cat. Women slam artists from across DC will perform their best breakup poems and spokenword spells to compete for first place and runner-up cash prizes. The Anti-Valentine's Day Slam, hosted by "Just Like A Girl" editor Michelle Sewell, has only one rule: NO LOVE POEMS!

Proceeds from the event will benefit Girls Rock! DC, a collective of women from the DC Metro Area, including teachers, musicians, artists, and community organizers, founded in the fall of 2007. Following in the footsteps of girls rock camps across the United States, Girls Rock! DC held the area's first all-girls rock camp in August 2008.
