Enough
I've had enough of this presidential campaign.
Enough of politicians ripping each other apart. Enough of the incessant babble of talking heads shilling for a paycheck. Enough paid consultants out-whoring themselves in an attempt to be the next Karl Rove. Enough so-called journalists and their constantly shifting narrative attempts at creating reality for the purpose of higher ratings or just something new to talk about. Enough of big media conglomerates selling me entertainment as news.
There are 7 months until the election, and I was done a month ago. The coarseness of the political campaign process rots our collective sense of ethics and cheapens our character. The perspective of the infotainment obsessed media coverage just makes us stupid. We are better than this.
I accept a certain amount of civic responsibility to discern fact from fiction, so I try to check out the weekly broadcast from Annenberg's FACTCHECK website as an alternative to the campaign/network noise. They are a locally based political "consumer advocate" non-profit that is reputable and non-partisan. It may not keep me as up to speed as the average DC politico, but at least it lets me know who's lying to me this week.
7 more months, folks.
