Elaine Gets Shamed

Jon Steed, gay staff writer for employment advocacy group American Rights at Work, has spent a good deal of time researching the record of Elaine Chao, the Bush administration's secretary of labor, and contributed substantially to a website detailing her dubious achievements. The site is called Shame On Elaine, so you can imagine they weren't so happy with what they found. Though I'm already a fan of anyone taking pains to expose ineptitude in the Bush administration, a little research on Elaine showed she has a poor record with gay rights as well. As the director of the Peace Corp under the other President Bush, she refused to add sexual orientation to the Corp's equal employment policy. Not that that overshadows her other evils, but its worth noting.
