March 2: Meg Hutchinson's "Come Up Full" CD Release Tour

3Word Productions, organizers of Mothertongue, present Meg Hutchinson (pictured) and Nancy Eddy at the 3Word house, March 2nd, 8:30 PM. RSVP required.   Details below the fold.

From the 3Word Productions press release:

Performing Songwriter calls Hutchinson, "A master of introspective ballads filled with understated yearning and an exquisite sense of metaphor." In 1996 Meg independently released her debut self-titled CD and in 1999 she released her second independent album 'Against The Grey' on her own label Little Red Hen Music. In April of 2001 'Against The Grey' was nominated for a Boston Music Award for best "Debut Singer-Songwriter Album" of the year. In December of that year Hutchinson released live album 'Any Given Day.' Meg released 'The Crossing' in June 2004. She has recently finished recording her next album "Come Up Full" - which will be released on Red House Records in early 2008.

Meg describes her style as "lyric-based, folk-pop, with a whole lot of small town idealism and a devastating break up thrown in for good measure." Among her influences she is quick to include poet Mary Oliver along with the likes of David Gray and Shawn Colvin. Her songs are characterized by a weathered but unselfconscious optimism, and a love of language and of the natural world. Having grown up in a town of 5,000 people, "just outside the National Historic District," her songs possess all the ragged charm of Lake Wobegon, tempered by a gritty and timeless voice.

"Meg Hutchinson's songs have a way of making us believe she's telling the truth, at least as she sees it. In a brooding sea of inscrutable urban songwriters, her whispery, knowable voice feels like it's sharing her secrets with us. Set to elegant, free-floating melodies that feel both modern and rooted, her lyrics are always seeking, if not actually finding, hope at the end of life's dark tunnels..." ~Boston Globe

Fresh off the stage from PhaseFest 2007 (www.phasefest.com), Nancy Eddy couldn't be more excited about opening for Meg Hutchinson! Songwriting provides Nancy Eddy the opportunity to put her experiences and relationships inside of a snow globe, shake 'em up, and see how life really looks when everything settles. She doesn't mind ice skating on stage either -- anything to keep a melody spinning. Nancy has performed with Rose Polenzani, Anais Mitchell, Mara Levi, Andrea Gibson, Sharon Lewis, and By & By.
