I Caved

Note: The photo on the right is not of me. I would never wear those shoes.

I'm gay and Jewish, and as such I get really excited about extreme clothing bargains. Seeing something 60% off will almost always make me inclined to buy it, even if its something I would never consider without the markdown. Sales on dresses and pantyhose make me lament that I'm not a crossdresser. I tell you this to justify a recent purchase that I never even would've considered at full price: skinny jeans.

I'm so ashamed.

I generally consider skinny jeans (colloquially known as "hipster pants") to be in line with Crocs and male cardigans as clothing trends that do not look good on anyone. Halfway between hip huggers and leggings, and de riguer for American Apparel employees, these pants have been the object of more of my ridicule than I even have space to get into here.

So blame it on a tryptophan hangover or the arousal I feel at a pair of $200 pants marked down to $55.80, but damned if I didn't walk out Filene's yesterday with a pair of jeans that will show off the exact size and shape of my glans.

Am I a hypocrite? Am I going to look utterly ridiculous? I usually pride myself on avoiding the more egregious trends in modern clothing, but this one has gotten more and more appealing the more I see it. Or maybe its the fact that most people's asses look really big in those pants and I have no ass to speak of.

Folks, if you see me out feel free to give me your opinion on this, uh, pressing matter.
