DC9 CONCERT OF THE WEEK: Kirsten Price

Kirsten Price is making me wish I was a lesbian.

As the home of alterna-queer dance part Taint and performance night Crack, 9th St.'s DC9 has proven itself as a queer-friendly business for close to five years. Please continue to support them by checking out this concert (Yes, this is a paid advertorial but I'm doing TNG full time now and need to pay my rent:)

Hot queer musician alert! London-by-way-of-New York singer Kirsten Price may have a voice like any number of ultra-talented radio starlets, but has a trick up her sleeve to separate herself from the likes of Macy Gray or Amy Winehouse. The openly gay musician has been out since the beginning of her career, even signing to Columbia's "Music with a Twist" LGBT record label. Much of my skepticism toward pop singers has to do with their capability to sell out, not their polished sound. So the fact that Price is appearing at a venue as small as DC9 suggests she actually has talent to offer along with her image.

As an added plus, the intimate nature of the show will make it much easier for her lady fans to meet her when her set is done.

Kirsten Price plays this Thursday, Jan. 29th, at DC9 (1940 9th St.) Show starts at 9. Tickets are $10 in advance. You can buy them now.
