TNG: In Case You Missed It – 12/19/08

Welcome back to TNG: In Case You Missed It – the weekly feature in which we round up the most popular and talked-about TNG posts from the previous week in one easy-to-digest, well, digest.

As you may have heard, we here at TNG are going to be going on a little holiday vacation and leaving you with some of our best vintage content (more on that in a bit), so be sure to get caught up on the most recent material now. It’s kind of like re-gifting, but not really and way better!

Check out below the fold for the best we had to offer this week.

This week:

In Commentary:

• Zack almost fell into one of Katy Perry’s sinister traps, but eventually escaped her catchy clutches! Read about how Katy almost won him over.

• Jason Dilt opened up about his personal struggle with an eating disorder, and its relationship to the wider gay culture. Be sure to check out the rest of the story as well.

• David Stalling looked back at some gay greats throughout history.

• We discussed the pros and cons of marriage vs. civil unions and the implications of leaving marriages in the churches.

• Matt officially introduced himself and his column, “Dispatches from Left Field,” to everyone. Welcome!

• Amelie and Anne brought us the first installment of their new column by the ladies, for the ladies, called “In the Ladies' Room,” by listing some of their favorite straight girl musicians. Did your fave make the cut?

In Music:

• We offered up what we’re listening to this week, and then invited you to join us.

• The best albums of 2008, according to us, were presented. Your favorite not make the cut? Let us know about it!

• Luiza Sa of CSS sat down with Zack and talked about being a gay rockstar. Show her and the rest of the band some love this weekend at their concert at the 9:30 Club.

In Politics:

• We asked, “Who Throws a Shoe? Honestly!”

• President-Elect Obama chose Rick Warren (pastor of the Saddleback Church and host of the "Values Forum" Presidential debate) to give the invocation at his inauguration and we responded.

Also:

• We told you what you’d be up to this weekend.

• Last week’s TNG dance party featuring Soft Complex was recapped. Check yourselves out!

• We asked you mark your calendars for two upcoming TNG events: December 30th’s Pre New Year’s Eve party and the next Homo/Sonic, which will be held on January 3rd. Save the dates!

Was your favorite post or discussion left out? Be sure to make your case below! Happy Holidays from everyone at TNG!
