Dec. 17: mothertongue Spokenword for Our Place, DC

Interested in hearing awe-inspiring women sharing powerful words and maybe even taking a crack at the mic yourself, all while helping out a great organization? Then be sure to make it out to the Black Cat in December 17th for mothertongue’s Spokenword event.

mothertongue is a community-based organization that works to create a safe space where all women may speak freely and powerfully and have their creative and artistic voices heard. The show will feature poet Finneyfrock and an open mic portion hosted by Michelle Sewell. The event will benefit Our Place, DC, an organization which supports women who are or have been in the criminal justice system by providing the resources they need to maintain connections with the community, resettle after incarceration, and reconcile with their families.
