TNG Mixtape
Hey hey, everybody! So... some of you may have noticed that there was no What We're Listening To or Mixtape this week. Although with all this amazing, beautiful, wonderful history blooming all around us lately (California notwithstanding), I wouldn't be insulted if you didn't. Like most of you, I've been busy with work and election-related hangovers, but I've also been busy getting my shit together so I can run away to Argentina! It's just that... well... ever since McCain lost, I've just been feeling like I can't live here in the U.S. anymore. I don't even recognize this country anymore. It's a shame, really. (Just playing! I'm going on vacation!) But that whole no WWLT or Mixtape thing? Well, you might have to get used to that until December. :(
Of course, TNG Michael pointed out that it might be a little rude of me to run off for a month without saying goodbye, so I went ahead and made one last mix before I left. It's pretty mellow and a little schizophrenic, but it's all stuff that makes me die from love (and a few songs and/or artists I think I've talked about on TNG before). Just some good jams to get you through the day. Plus, I figured if I were to drown in Iguacu or get trampled by a bull in the Pampas or get fucked to death by some hot Argentinian supermodel (knock on wood!), that my lasting legacy to TNG and all of you should be something nice and totally me: musical and completely narcissistic. (Half-joke! See, I almost wrote little stories for each song before I remembered that we've all heard the story of how the 17-year-old gay boy fell in love with Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You" several times...) No, but seriously, I hope you guys enjoy it and thank you so much for reading and listening these last few months. I can't wait to get back and share all the stories and the craziness and, of course, the music. Barack 'n' Roll! XOXO...
