TNG Mixtape
Well, hey there, campers! Once again it's time for your weekly TNG mixtape! First off, I've just gotta go ahead and put it out there that I'm kind of really into the tape this week. My peops picked some awesome stuff, and I can't help myself. I've been listening to it over and over again. (And I don't just mean the Beyonce; I mean all of it!) It's my hope that all of you will feel the same. As usual, most of the tracks are from artists and albums mentioned in yesterday's What We're Listening To, but I also went ahead and added a few songs from other related artists. For instance, Amanda Palmer : Dresden Dolls :: A.C. Newman : The New Pornographers. Get it? Also, as is my prerogative every week, I went ahead and added something extra. This week, I went with my favorite break-up song of all-time, "Your Ex-Lover Is Dead," by Montreal indie-pop outfit, Stars. (Well, OK, second-favorite. "Against All Odds" is my all-time favorite. Especially after that This American Life where Starlee Kine tries to write her own break-up song. My heart hurts just thinking about it. I think I want Phil Collins to be my life coach too...) Anyway, it's a beautiful song; I'm a sucker for a good string section. Plus, I've been dealing with some ex-issues lately, so it kind of speaks to me. I kind of want to write the lyrics down on a piece of paper, ball them up and bounce them off his forehead. But that would be silly, wouldn't it? Of course, I'm not above a Facebook message... :)
Anyway, enjoy the mix! The full playlist awaits below the fold...
