Jana Hunter's earlier work channeled the depressing circumstances of her hometown Arlington, Texas into swooning, bee-stung constructions like "Valkyries". Splitting time between Houston and Baltimore, Hunter now swings more toward a sparse, dream pop sound, with arrangements like "Bird". You might hear an indie folk Hope Sandoval, hints of Galaxie 500, or a little of the more atmospheric-sounding Yo La Tengo at Hunter's Thursday night Black Cat backstage show.
