Wednesday: Mothertongue at Black Cat

If you're not heading to a Project Runway season kickoff party tomorrow night, check out mothertongue Celebrates Women of Brave New Voices 2008, the 11th Annual International Youth Poetry Slam Festival at the Black Cat. The event features Karen Finneyfrock, Angela Dy, and Canary Sing. Finneyfrock has DC roots: She first joined the poetry slam movement as a member of the District's slam team at 1999's National Poetry Slam in Chicago. If you've been waiting for an opportunity to show off your poetry slam skills, tomorrow's the night--there will be an open mic.
