Tonight: Modern Love, Civilian, License to Brawl
This might be the laziest post in the history of this site. I blame the beers (pictured) and Exile in Guyville radio retrospective that's kept me up all hours. So here's what's up, matadors:
1) Hits from the 80s and 90s (but not today) by Junebullet, art courtesy of powerhouse D.C. collectors the Podestas, and swag bags? Cupcakes? What sort of grown-up party is this?:
9-12 am / $10
one drink ticket included with admission
1250 New York Avenue, N.W.
2) Night of bizarro electronic muziq:
Music Night at Civilian
9pm / $5 donation
Civilian Arts Projects
406 7th Street NW, Third Floor
Featuring:
Ilya Monosov (Planaria / Holy Mountain / Drag City / Language of Stone)
Duane Pitre (Important Records)
Pree (May from Le Loup)
Scott Allison (of Kohoutek)
and DJ sets from Ed Porter and Scott Bauer
3) Date night meets skate night:
License to Brawl: Barrelhouse Magazine Roller Derby Issue Launch
6-10 pm / $10
Hillyer Art Space (behind the Phillips Collection on 21st Street, NW, between Q and R Street)
Beer, wine, food, djs, readings from the latest issue of Barrelhouse magazine of roller derby themed stories and poems, and the chance to arm wrestle a real live DC roller derby girl.

Don't forget the Queer and Trans July SLOW DANCE PARTY at St. Stephen's Church (1525 Newton St., NW) tonight at 9! There will be fabulous outfits (formal wear optional), sweet slow jams, and possibly some good old fashioned matchmaking games. Plus it's free!
I'll be there, busting out my awesome 7th grade slow-dance moves. And there are still a few openings on my dance card... I'm just sayin'.
J/K about the "free" part. There's a suggested donation of $3, to benefit the Wanda Alston House, a new housing program for queer and trans youth (http://www.metroweekly.com/gauge/?ak=3460)
