When Harlem Came to Paris - February 28
TNG Events Editor Jolly submitted this post. The Alliance Française de Washington is hosting a special tribute to the Harlem Renaissance this Saturday in the form of their "When Harlem Came to Paris" event.
The evening includes theatrical re-enactment performances of works by writers such as Zora Neale Hurston and Langston Hughes, live music with songs by Josephine Baker and Billie Holiday and an assortment of characters setting the tone for an evening that will transport attendees to a 1930s style cabaret party. Everyone is encouraged to dress in the style of the 1920s and 1930s and be prepared to celebrate a significant time in the cultural history of African-Americans, in and outside of the U.S.
