GLBT Guide

Aaron with Destination DC submits the following post.

TNG Readers:

Destination DC—Washington, DC's official Convention and Tourism Corporation—is currently in production of the next edition of its annual GLBT Visitors Guide. We are looking to make some updates and would like the readers of TNG, a respected group of DC insiders, to provide their input. In our newest edition, we will be including sample visitor itineraries for three different segments of GLBT travelers:

1. GLBT urban explorers (with focus on nightlife, shopping)
2. Creative" GLBTs (with focus on local arts and theatre)
3. GLBT families (with focus on activities for children and multi-generational groups)

Please send in any itinerary suggestions—whether it's complete itineraries or just a few ideas to include. We welcome any ideas for places around the city that you know have delivered a positive experience to the GLBT market and could include any/all of the following: lodging, restaurants, activities, attractions, shopping, entertainment, transportation, etc. They can be GLBT-specific or simply GLBT-friendly.

Please send any ideas directly to me at aaron.riggins@destinationdc.com by Tuesday, February 22. And feel free to pass this on to others. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

With the exception Ruby Tuesday in Chinatown, most restaurants and performance theaters are gay friendly. I have never had a problem in the 4 years I lived here. I have gone to places in Chinatown, Eastern Market, Dupont Circle, Adams Morgan, Georgetown, Silver Spring, Ballston, Shirlington, and Pentagon City. The DC area is pretty open to gay peeps. Granted, there have been hate crimes uptick in the past year, which is terrible. Other than that increasing phenomenon, DC is pretty cool with our crowd.
