CRACK presents Journey To Uranus: Feb. 28 @ TOWN

This post is submitted by Summer Camp, a potty-mouthed drag queen who hosts CRACK and is a TNG advice columnist.

On Saturday, February 28, you're invited to join the CRACK gang at TOWN Danceboutique for a ridiculous and raunchy cabaret called CRACK: Journey To Uranus.

CRACK has been wanting to do a show set in outer space for a long time, I mean the joke about Uranus was just too tempting for a low-brow group like CRACK. The theatrical extravaganza, hosted by moi, Summer Camp, will be packed with outrageous performances, short films, and audience participation games. Though we're trying out a new and bigger venue, the show promises to be the same low budget mess of stage and screen that it has always been.

We hope you'll join us for an out-of-this-world production, and we're giving away two free tickets to the show. Here's the deal: CRACK is flying direct to Uranus, but we need a name for our spaceship. We'd like you to name it! If you have a funny idea, send it to CRACK at info@crackdc.com and you could win two tickets to the show. Contest ends on Saturday, February 21.

To get you into the intergalactic mood, we created a one-minute, low budget promo video that won't be winning any Oscars next week.

It's been more than a year since our last live show, so we're really excited to be back on stage. After turning away a lot of people at our last risqué revue called The Circus, we started looking for a bigger venue. We're delighted to take our scandalous style of cabaret to TOWN. The move allows the performance-driven event to welcome more audience members without diminishing the do-it-yourself nature of the production. And it has a backstage!

Since debuting in early 2006, CRACK shows have drawn a cross-section of Washington’s alternative communities and provided an opportunity for local performers who have fallen through the “cracks” of traditional theater to showcase their hidden (and questionable) talents. CRACK has carved out a unique niche in DC’s performance scene, having produced numerous cabaret shows and short films that have been described as “irreverent,” “over-the-top,” and “sophomoric.” Our new, outer space-themed show promises to live up to that reputation.

As always, Chris Farris and Karl Jones will be by my side as we take to the stage, and there will be special appearances by TNG's Zack Rosen, Tony Villa, Alex George, Filip Vanevski, Kevin Farris, Josh Siegel, Scott Shumaker, Grant Barker, Richard Sawka, Andrew Grossman, Michael Calhoun, Dan Hagerty, and more.

If you're a CRACK virgin, check out these clips of past performances and short films to get a sense of what CRACK is all about. See you in space!
