Portraits of Power

This is William Casby. He was born into slavery in 1863, in Algiers, Louisiana. The photo was taken by Richard Avedon in 1963. I highly recommend that you view this photo in person.

The Corcoran Gallery currently feature’s photographer Richard Avedon’s work in a show called Portraits of Power. The show ends on January 25th, so check it out while you still can.
