LBTQ Speed Dating Event for Women – Feb. 4th

Come to Be:Bar Feb. 4th for an eclectic speed dating event courtesy of EPIC. For $10 you can expect at least six dates at five min each. EPIC will also be selling Coupon Books for $10 apiece, featuring free drinks at BeBar & Phase 1, and savings at Sugar, Pleasure Place, and more.
The event will benefit Our Place DC, an organization which supports women who are or have been in the criminal justice system by providing the resources they need to maintain connections with the community, resettle after incarceration, and reconcile with their families.
I attended my first speed dating event over two years ago at Fab Lounge (under the disguise of an article for the Washington Blade) – and walked away with two hot dates and three life-long friends. Definitely worth the $10 cover!

If EPIC can pull this off for $10, then why does the Jewish Community Center need to charge $27 its speed dating event this weekend? Do I really need to pay a $17 service fee so I can find a person of the gender and religion I want? I may as well just buy high holiday tickets at Bet Mishpacha.
This is Tate of EPIC DC and I wanted to say that the JCC does important work in creating a space for queer people from similar cultural and/or religious backgrounds to connect. They also draw in queer people of diverse backgrounds and work to build bridges and understanding within our broader community. We support the JCC's efforts.
A few things:
EPIC is an organization of volunteers - this is one of the many ways we work to keep costs low. 100% of the proceeds (after basic administrative costs) from our events go to the targeted organization. Our goal is to create a fun and inclusive atmosphere for participants and to draw support for causes that are central to our community.
EPIC is also hosting speed dating for men on February 11th (watch for the TNG post.)
