Ask a Straight Guy: The Raveonettes' Sune Rose Wagner

I suggest you stop by CVS to buy earplugs and porn, because Danish duo The Raveonettes are going to steep DC in decibels and sex. Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo are hitting the Black Cat tomorrow with a four piece backing band, guaranteeing that their already bombastic mix of distortion and harmonies will be louder than ever. Though the beast with two backs is seldom mentioned, the bands repertoire is so steeped in longing, flirtation and innuendo that you'll be ready to hump the cigarette machine by the third song.
Vocalist/guitarist Sune Rose Wagner was nice enough to answer some of my questions about being straight. Full interview and Raveonettes mixtape are below the fold. (You can also check out an in-depth phone interview with Sharin from their last DC appearance.)

The Raveonettes play tomorrow, January 17th, at the Black Cat. $15. Doors at 9.
The New Gay: When did you first realize you were straight?
Sune Rose Wagner: When I saw a picture of Samantha Fox in my teens, I knew right then and there that’s what I wanted.
TNG: What is your least favorite stereotype about straight people?
[Ed. Note: Sune didn't answer this one. Feel free to leave guesses at why in the comment box.]
TNG: What obligations, if any, do you feel that you have to the gay community?
SRW: None really. I’m a pretty liberal Dane who grew up with sex and swearing on national tv and radio, so I’m pretty flexible. If the gay community want something from me, they shall have it.
TNG: What are the biggest challenges faced by a straight person in today's culture?
SRW: To not appear gay :)
TNG: If you had to "go gay" for one member of the same sex, who would it be?
SRW: Sharin’s husband, he’s kinda cute.
TNG: Given the seemingly endless number of "indie" artist in existence today, how do you think you set yourself apart from the crowd?
SRW: By being a modern day pop star who constantly shoots for the stars!
TNG: Finally, why should Washington, DC come out and see you play tonight?
SRW: Cause we’re straight! TNG
