For Your Consideration: Jim Martin
Hey, did you know that this election thing still is not over? It's true. Just today corrupt old bastard Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) lost his senate seat by a few thousand absentee votes. Minnesota is still recounting for the senate, as well, meaning that the Democrats have a chance at reaching that all-important 60-seat marker, which would mean at least 2 years of an Obama lovefest on the Hill.
To do it, though, they also need to win the Dec. 2nd runoff election in Georgia. Jim Martin is hoping to oust the Republican, Saxby Chambliss, whose coolness stops at his sick name. Martin has a history of being pro-gay rights (when you take into account that it's Georgia) while at the state's Department of Human Resources and also in the state legislature. He is well-respected with the state's gay rights activists, and supports a pretty progressive agenda overall. And today, Bill Clinton is campaigning for him in Georgia, and hopefully not saying anything racist.
While this may seem to have little to do with us, increasing the Democratic majority in the senate will be crucial for getting anything done under this new, kick-ass presidency. So I am encouraging everyone to go to Jim Martin's website and give a few bucks. I gave him something pitiful like $7 in the general election, so now you can go give him the cost of your morning Starbucks and not feel embarrassed. This is our last chance (other than election fraud in Minnesota) to make a difference this year, so let's make it happen.
