Saturgays in the Park Presents the Summer Games
Have you been hosting Olympic-viewing parties? Do you fantasize about participating in the Summer Games, but lack the talent, energy, and drive? If that sounds like you, head to Meridian Hill Park this Saturday to participate in the Summer Games presented by Saturgays in the Park. Although the Saturgays claim that this event is named after TNG advice columnist Summer Camp -- and not "those overrated games going on in China" -- expect plenty of traditional Olympic activities. Following the opening ceremony, there will be "absurd events" and even a medal ceremony. So, start training. Or not. Just be sure to show up at the park on time. Participants are encouraged to dress as Olympians, so don't forget the spandex!
Details: Saturday, August 23, Meridian Hill (Malcolm X) Park, 16th and W streets NW, starts at 3:30 p.m., free, all ages
