Curbside: The Ex-Files, Pt. 7

Yup, TNG still has a comic strip. This is the seventh in a series of comics donated to us by Robert Kirby, author of Curbside Boys, that follow an unnamed narrator on a tour through his exes.

Click the strip above for a full-sized version. Expect to see editions of Curbside on our site every other Friday. You can check out past editions, too.

Robert's full bio is below the fold:

Robert Kirby has been way over the rainbow for many years and as such is pleased to participate in The New Gay. His comic strip “Curbside” has been a regular feature in the gay and alternative presses for many years (astute DC readers may remember it from Metro Weekly where it ran in the late 90s to the early 00s). “Curbside” has been collected in two paperback books: the cleverly titled Curbside (Hobnob Press) from 1998, and Curbside Boys (Cleis Press) in 2002. He is also the founder of the alternative gay boy comics zine Boy Trouble, the best of which was collected in The Book of Boy Trouble from Green Candy Press in 2006; there is a sequel forthcoming in fall 2008, The Book of Boy Trouble Volume 2, which will be all-new, all-color, all-cool and also from Green Candy Press. Rob lives in Minneapolis with another boy and a dog. Website: www.curb-side.com; email: curbside2@earthlink.net.

I really like this one. There's something to be said for personality. A really unexciting person once asked me for dating advice, and I basically told him to find a hobby or something he got excited about, just so he could have something to share with someone else...

I really like all of Kirby's work, but will confess that I feel sorta sorry for "Andy" in this one. In fact, my sympathies almost always tend toward the "exes" in these strips, unless they just behave horribly.

Unfortunately, when someone is into you to a degree that far outdistances your interest in them, the kindest thing is truly to cut it off -- and yet, is there a truly kind way to do that? I haven't found it yet.
