Opening: To Say the Least at Boiler Gallery
To Say the Least is an installation of photography, conceptual art, sculpture, wood block prints, and painting on display for one night in the impromptu Boiler Gallery. Featured works include those made by six artists (former installation by Ding Ren pictured) whose idiosyncratic art redefines and confronts the interstices of urban apartment space within the historic Adams Morgan neighborhood. While diverse in appearance and effect, each project emerges from the theme, "to say the least," which was given as an open-ended prompt at the start of the curatorial initiative. Whether the resulting dialogue addresses the existence of withheld information (decisions made during the art-making and curatorial process) or the history of art objects in and outside of institutional art spaces, is still open for debate.
