Tonight: Let's Talk About Sex Shops
Many an Area Lesbian has bitched about the absence of a good sex toy shop in DC. The conversation usually loops from a store one used to frequent in another city (Babeland, Seattle), to the fact of The Leather Rack (nice, but a limited selection and made for boys), and ends with, We should open a toy store! Alas, we are all talk.
But one Jacq Jones actually did open a sporting goods store in Baltimore, called Sugar. I haven't been, but one patron reports, "It was sort of like going to a hipster record store and being like, I can order this online for $25 cheaper. And they have stuff displayed like it's a sex cave. But you wanna support, of course."
Altruistic motives aside, I think it's always better to actually touch and see the equipment you'll be employing in and around the orifices. Am I right?
Jacq Jones speaks tonight at 6pm on the issues and obstacles facing owners and patrons of adult businesses. Details below the fold.

aerodynamic and stylish choice of color -- purple and pink just go together.
Sex shops should definitely sell fancy coffee drinks. Lesbos like to mocha up before focusing in on the G...maybe this would help DC "hang", there aren't enough good coffee stops as it is.
There may be a new lesbian-friendly, woman-owned and operated toy store on 14th Street in NW soon named Whole, if they can raise the money to open it...
coach --hmm, after giving this much thought;
I think you should definitely require a saddle- Otherwise, P.E.T.A might criticize the decision as unrealistic. We all know that only Epona could actually tame a wild fantasy horse...
i enjoyed sugar on our visit. the salesdyke was very affable and really knew her way around a mr. softie.
whenever i go to the leather rack, i wig out on that set of eurethral "sound" things. like, whoa.
Even though most of Lambda Rising's shelf space is dedicated to books, I found their selection of lube to be sufficient, and the lesbian clerks at the desk are very helpful, informed, and communicative when you're having problems selecting from all the lube choices behind the counter.
Sometimes I go to the Pleasure Place just to giggle at their novelty items and the abundant selection of "naughty" costumes.
I'm going to have to second the vote for "haha funny" trips to Pleasure Palace. I've tried many a time to go there for something actually sexy, and always leave with something ridiculous like xxx rated fortune cookies and an unstoppable case of the giggles.
If anyone could open a real lady-friendly sex shop in DC, I'd appreciate it muchly.
