Friday: Beach House @ The Rock and Roll Hotel

Some music leaves you dancing, with your ears ringing and your eyes tearing from the sheer force and volume of the sound. Other music, though, is like a faded grey blanket that you want to throw over your shoulders on a rainy bus ride, because sometimes the melancholy can be so much more appealing than the dynamic. Baltimore band Beach House's newest CD, Devotion, has been the perfect soundtrack for the dingy nether-time between Winter and Spring, and I assume their spare songs will sound even better live.

Beach House is playing this Friday, April 4, at the Rock and Roll Hotel. Doors open at 8:30.
