Thursday: Dirty Dozen Brass Band
I saw the Dirty Dozen Brass Band 2 years ago, when they came to the State Theatre with one of the Neville Brothers. It was a packed house and they put on a great show that ended as a free-for-all, with people jumping up on stage to dance, and a woman from the audience grabbing the microphone and signing back-up to "Dirty Old Man"...and it was GOOD.
For over 25 years the Dirty Dozen has been a leader in Brass-Hop, a New Orleans creation that takes the traditional brass band sound and infuses it with R&B, Hip-Hop, and Reggae. I've seen them twice, both here and in New Orleans, and I recommend them...just bring your white handkerchiefs for the second line and be prepared to dance.
